Sensory Issues and Education in Autism - Temple Grandin

Welcome to the Girls with Autism blog!

Girls are being diagnosed with autism in staggering numbers but many who are on the spectrum may be falling through the cracks. Because boys are primarily the gender mentioned in the news, it is easy to overlook the fact that girls are on the spectrum too. True, boys may represent 4/5 of the autism population but that leaves 20% female.
Girls have unique issues that are compounded by their autistic traits. As these girls grow into women and begin their own families, social ineptness can become more problematic. This blog and her sister site -www.girlswithautism.com will focus on the challenges of being on the spectrum and female.
